For the past several months I've referenced a few secret projects I've been working on. I'm excited to share one of them with you now! Meet In Good Company, my very first tutorial for the Moda Bake Shop! (EDIT: If you're looking for the Cutting Diagrams for the colored prints, you will find them on the Tutorials page.)
IGC is my take on a traditional friendship star quilt. It was a lot of fun playing with scale and alternate grid work. I used Natalia & Kathleen's upcoming Thrive collection. I am crazy about the limited, modern palette and the linear designs in the prints. I'm so happy I have leftover fabric, because I'm going to need to make another quilt and possibly some pillows with the panel that comes with the FQ bundle. Thrive ships in October. (However a quick internet search confirmed it is available for pre-order at Fat Quarter Shop.)
I was very lucky that my annual trip to Michigan fell at just the right time to get some beautiful shots of the quilt with Lake Michigan as a backdrop. My photography skills are a work in progress so I was grateful to have the beautiful blue waters of one of the Great Lakes in the background.
If you have a few minutes, I'd love it if you'd check out the tutorial over at the Bake Shop.
Moving on to last week's to-do list...
I was 99% unsuccessful. I have a good reason though: our A/C has been out for a week! In August. In Tennessee. Being upstairs, where my sewing room is, has been unbearable. We've even been sleeping in the living room! The new unit is supposed to be installed today or tomorrow. Needless to say, we are all a bit grumpy at Casa de Elliott.
The only thing I accomplished was contacting clients about outstanding commissions. So this week's list is a lot like last week's list:
1️⃣ Whip up a personalized label for a recently sold quilt
2️⃣ Ship that quilt 👆
3️⃣ Work on new project
4️⃣ Make a few blocks for our Friedlander bed quilt
5️⃣ Try very, very hard to ignore the pretty stacks of Chroma and Tattooed taunting me from their shelf!
6️⃣ Make Raspberry Kiss blocks for @CraftyCop's #blueRKblocks on Instagram.
