Last week I was successful in completing all the cutting for the January and Chicopee quilts...and that's all I accomplished from last week's list. I did manage to get 2 sections of the Chicopee quilt pieced as well.
I also managed to get the January blocks 3/4 of the way pieced. I have to admit, the curves are kicking my butt; and I normally don't have this kind of trouble when piecing curves. I'm using fabric from two different manufactures: solids and blenders from Craftsy's Boundless line and some blenders from a Jinny Beyer line from RJR. The Beyer fabric seems exceptionally stretchy to me compared to the Boundless. I'm starching the heck out of it, but it's still kind of wonky. I used fabric from this same line in the 5-Point Star quilt and did not have this issue. I bought fabric for each project separately and I'm using a layer cake this time. The squares were perfectly square, but maybe the cutting was off? Who knows. Regardless, I'm getting the blocks done, but I'm having to pin a lot more than I'd like. I'd hoped to have both this top and the Chicopee top finished by Friday evening, but that's not going to happen. Oh well.
You can see the puckering in the top block. I'll probably need to redo that one. And you can see that I have quite a bit of trimming in my future. Blah. Even still, I cannot wait to see this one finished. I have been wanting to make one of these quilts since I saw it for the first time.
